NetPlay to get its own Freeview channel

NetPlay has unveiled plans for a dedicated Freeview TV channel, which will allow them to broadcast bingo and casino games 24 hours a day. The new channel will be broadcast on channel 48 from the 8th January 2009, thus making it the first gambling channel available on Freeview.

Up until the latest announcement, NetPlay had bought broadcasting space from other channels such as Virgin and Nuts TV.

In a statement released by NetPlay, they said: “This is a major milestone for our business. Freeview is the largest digital TV platform in the UK with over 15.3 million homes using the service. To secure a dedicated channel to broadcast our services is a real achievement for the whole team. We will now be able to drive people to our Freeview channel 48 and thus build loyalty in this destination.”

Earlier this year, NetPlay bought Sky channel 848 for just under half a million pounds and acquired online bingo site Bingos.com for €7.3 million.
