Bingo Etiquette
There are etiquette rules in bingo, whether you are online, or in a traditional bingo hall. A traditional bingo parlour allows no talking, and insists on complete silence while the numbers are being called, so that everyone can hear both the call, and anyone claiming “Bingo!”
Online bingo etiquette does exist, but it applies mainly to chatrooms. Chatrooms are very popular in online sites for bingo. The rules are pretty lax in a chatroom, although there is a moderator on site.
There are a few points to mention about chatrooms. Most players in a chatroom use a nom de plume or signature, rather than their real names. Always take chatroom chatter at face value. The anonymous nature of a chatroom may lead to whoppers and blatant lies.
Chat rooms in bingo are a lively source of conversations and bingo tips. Some even have games inside the chatroom. The moderator is on hand to make sure there is no verbal abuse, impersonation of other players, and that there is no phishing for potential customers for products.
Each chatroom has an email route for comments for the webmaster or administrator. There are usually buttons set up for abbreviations such as “TY” for thank you. The nice thing about chatrooms is that you get the camaraderie and enthusiasm of other bingo players without worrying about a place to sit, whether your marker will run out of ink, or if people will be able to hear you shout BINGO!
Feel free to share your woes over losing, but be gracious if you win. Congratulate other winners and just have fun.
